Russian Peoples Friendship University, Russia

The Soviet Union Government established the university on 5th February 1960. It was established with an important aim to help the countries during the Cold War. Numerous students from the developed nations have attended this university. The University was named Patrice Lumumba University on 22nd February. This name was inspired by the Congolese leaders Patrice Lumumba, who was killed in a coup in the month of January the same year. The main objective of forming this university was to educate the youth and the unfortunate people from the countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. This was like an opportunity which was given to the poor students so that they could become educated, well qualified and specialists in the area where their interest lay. All-Union Central Soviet of Trade Unions, The Soviet Afro Asian Solidarity Committee and the Soviet Associations Union of Friendship and Intercultural Relation were the organizations which established this university.
