Grodno State Medical University is one of the premium leading institutions in the Republic of Belarus. This public university laid its foundation in the year 1958 and is the oldest medical institution in the country. It specializes in the field of medicine and medical psychology. The university has a good reputation amongst the students as well as it has extensive experience in training international students to future doctors. Grodno is an industrial area and a hub for educational centres in the country. It has a population of more than 300 thousand. The people here are very tolerant, calm and friendly.
The university has a vast infrastructure including 4 student hostels, 2 gymnasiums, scientific library, research centre, laboratories, hepatological centre and computer centre. It has 45 departments spread across the city.
The university has one of the biggest medical libraries having a collection of 4,20,000 text books, medical journals, periodicals, supplementary materials and CD’s. The library has high speed internet connection to provide on-line access to biomedical database, digital catalogues, up-to date information related to the medical advancement all round the globe and the latest technology.
Degrees given by the university are globally accepted and are recognized by WHO, Medical Council of India, Educational commission for foreign medical graduates, Sri Lanka, Lithuania, the USA and the Republic of Maldives.
In 2010, Grodno State Medical University became the first medical institution for higher learning and education in the Republic of Belarus that was certified by ISO 9001 Quality Management System. It has also maintained its position in the top 1000 universities of the world. It started accepting the international students since 1995 and offers a fully English Medium curriculum. Currently 531 students from 30 different nationalities study at the University of Grodno.
Grodno gets a significant amount of rainfall each year. The temperature is cold during the months of December to February. February is also the driest month of the year. The average temperature in July is 18.9 °C making July the warmest month. Winters are as cold as -4°C to -8°C. June, July and August experience the most pleasant weather.
