College of physician and surgeons (CPS) or CPS Mumbai established in 1913, is an autonomous body imparting post graduate medical education and offers 10 fellowship, 39 diploma and 2 certificate courses.
Following courses and fellowships have been recognised by MCI. Any person who cleared any of these exams and received a certificate will be MCI recognised and eligible to practice anywhere across India as per MCI rules. The recognition is with retrospective effect for any individual who had received this certification prior to the date of notification as well.
These courses were derecognised in 2009 (Gazette notification: https://bit.ly/3e3IDZr). Of these, numbers 1, 2 and 3 were granted recognition in October 2017 (Gazette notification: https://bit.ly/2TqmRas ) and numbers 4 to 10 were granted recognition in January 2018 (Gazette notification: https://bit.ly/2LJ3JAk).
College of Physicians & Surgeons (CPS) of Mumbai is an examining body established in 1912 by Surgeon General Sir H. W. Stevenson for meritorious doctors of allopathy desirous to have PG medical qualification before rendering the medical services to the society.

Regarding the exit examination,
Till date 10 CPS Courses are recognised by Medical Counsel Of India 3 Diploma Courses DGO,DCH,DPB & 6 FCPS Courses FCPS (Medicine),FCPS (Pathology),FCPS (Surgery),FCPS (Dermatology),FCPS (Mid. And Gyn.),FCPS (Ophthalmology) & MCPS.
A student desirous of joining a Post-Graduate Course must have obtained a basic qualification of MBBS or its equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India for the purpose of First Schedule Second Schedule or Third Schedule of the IMC Act 1956 as amended from time to time. All the students who have passed MCI recognized MBBS examination held by any of the recognized universities or have obtained a qualification mentioned in the above paragraph and are seeking admission into CPS affiliated institution for the purpose of the Certificate Course / Diploma / Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai must provide themselves with Certificate of Eligibility from this College at the time of applying for enrolment as Post-Graduate students. However, a student who has passed the MCPS Examination of the CPS prior to December 2009 Mumbai is exempted from such eligibility certificate.
