The institutional activity began on 20th October with only 1 faculty for General Medicine and 1-6 students. The process of teaching was intended to be performed by 30 Professors. It also had to include 9 medical science doctors and 5 habilitated doctors. It was the very beginning. Gradually, as time passed by, some other faculties also developed in the same premises.
July 25th, 1991 was a historical day in the history of the university when the State Institute of Medicine "Nicolae Testemitanu" gained its recognition as a university. It was renamed as The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemitanu" in the year 1995.
